Fabric recommendation for a DIY hot water bottle cover

As this hot water bottle cover is a waist belt, make sure to use soft, yet heat-resistant fabrics. It is suitable for both woven and stretchy fabrics. This makes it a great sewing idea to work with fabric remnants or to upcycle some unloved garments.

Since the hot water bottle can be very hot, make sure that you work with natural materials (at best in organic quality) and avoid polyester fabrics for this sewing project.

These fabrics work best for the hot water bottle cover:

Idea: Hot water bottle cover upcycling from old garments or fabric remnants

The pattern for the hot water bottle cover has a fabric consumption of only 50 cm and is therefore ideal as an upcycling project or to recycle fabric residues.

I sewed the hot water bottle cover from old towels. The cotton towels are very suitable as a hot water bottle cover, as they are usually made of 100% cotton and are therefore very robust and heat-resistant.
