Why you should go fabric shopping in Dubai
My favorite thing about fabric shopping in Dubai is, that you can find fabric remnants from the textile industry. Fabric remnant are pieces of fabric that are left over from the manufacturing process of clothing and other textile products. They are the end pieces or scraps of fabric that are not used in the final product and are often discarded.
Shopping industry remnants has three major benefits:
- One of the benefits of using fabric remnants is that it is an eco-friendly option. By using leftover fabric, we are reducing the amount of waste that goes into landfills. Additionally, using fabric remnants is a great way to get high-quality fabric at a lower price point, making it accessible to more people.
- You can level-up the quality of your DIY wardrobe! By using industry fabrics no one will be able to tell you’ve actually made this piece of garment yourself.
- If you’re lucky you can find high-quality fabrics from major brands at a discounted price point.

Fabric Shopping on Al Satwa Road
Al Satwa is my favorite street in Dubai to get fabrics and all sorts of crafting supplies such as zippers, thread and yarn. In Al Satwa you’ll find not only one fabric store, but multiple shops located next to each other.
With shops such as regal, ribbon and sour, Al Satwa serves a wide variety of shops serving different price points, qualities and materials. While Regal is more expensive, other fabric stores offer great textiles for less than 20 AED/ meter.
So if you’re planning to make clothes like abayas, bags and accessories on a budget, you’ll definitely find some great supplies here. Also, most shops here sell in small quantity, i.e. in yards and meters.
Reminder: Don’t forget to negotiate! A meter of fabric should be not more than 10-40 AED (depending on the quality you’re getting).
Some of the shops mentioned here don’t have an Instagram account or a google location. But as they are all located in the same area, you can just find one of the shop on google maps and explore from there.
